The Bond Beyond Goodbye: A Message from Sky in Spirit

One of the greatest honors of the work I do is helping people reconnect with the animals they have loved so deeply, even after those animals have crossed over. Recently, I had the privilege of sitting with a client named Sue for a communication session centered around her beloved dog, Sky, who passed away in September of 2020.

As I prepared for the session, I settled into the same process I use each time I connect with an animal in spirit. For me, it begins quietly through meditation. I introduce myself, explain why I’m there, and ask permission to connect. What happens next always feels a little extraordinary. It often feels like an internal conversation (thoughts, images, emotions, and impressions) coming through in ways that I’ve learned to recognize with lots of practice.

The moment I connected with Sky, I immediately felt the gentle, calm, loving energy that defined him. He showed me that he absolutely loved being close to Sue. He was happiest simply sitting by her side, quietly sharing space together. Sometimes people think animals need grand adventures to be happy, but so often what they show me is that their greatest joy comes from simply being near the people they love.

Sky: A friend now in spirit but still nearby

One of the most touching parts of our conversation was hearing Sky express gratitude for the care Sue gave him during his final year. He wanted her to know that despite whatever physical discomfort he experienced near the end of his life, he felt deeply loved. Animals are incredibly aware of the sacrifices we make for them, and Sky made it very clear that Sue gave him comfort, safety, and love exactly when he needed it most.

As we continued communicating, Sky showed me what his life looks like now. He described running freely through wide open fields — light, joyful, and completely free from pain. I could feel his happiness as he shared this with me. But what surprised me most was learning that he hasn’t stopped helping.

Sky showed me that he continues to work with animals in spirit and even helps with dogs that come into Sue’s life now. In particular, he shared that he’s been helping teach Brody how to chase squirrels, a detail that resonated immediately with Sue. Even after crossing over, our animals often remain connected to the lives and families they left behind.

Another beautiful message that came through was how closely Sky stayed with Sue after Dean passed away. Sky wanted Sue to know that he had been there during that difficult transition and continues to remain very close to her today. In fact, he showed me quite clearly that he still sits with her at night while she is in bed.

When I shared this with Sue, she immediately connected with the feeling she has had of Sky’s presence beside her. Moments like that are what make this work so powerful. Sometimes our animals never truly leave us. Their physical bodies may be gone, but the love, that bond, it continues.

One thing I often tell people is that animal communication, especially spirit communication, constantly reminds me how intelligent, emotionally aware, and deeply connected animals truly are. Over the years, I’ve connected with many animals both living and passed (dogs, cats, even a beta fish once) and every single experience reinforces something I know to be true:

Love does not end when physical life ends.

Our animals remain connected to us. They watch over us. They comfort us. Sometimes they even continue helping other animals and guiding the households they once called home.

Sessions like Sue and Sky’s remind me why I do this work. There is incredible healing in knowing that the animals we have loved are still at peace, still whole, and still very much connected to us in ways we may not always understand, but can absolutely feel.

Sky wanted Sue to know one final thing above all else: He was happy, he knew he was loved, and he is still with her.

Honestly, being able to deliver messages like that never stops feeling like a gift.
